Privacy Policy

Mohawk Valley Elite (“MVE,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) youth basketball organization. Most of the information we handle comes from parents and guardians registering their children for our programs. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

What We Collect

• Registration information — when a parent or guardian registers a player through our family portal (portal.mvebasketball.com), we collect information such as the parent/guardian's name and contact details, and the player's name, grade, school, and any details the form asks for (for example, jersey size or emergency contact). Some interest forms (hosted-tournament teams, a no-card donation pledge) still use Tally.
• Email addresses — when you sign up for program updates or register, your email address is stored in our email platform (Kit) so we can send you program communications. Signups from the website are tagged by what you asked for (tryout dates, skills-training dates, hosted tournaments, or partnership updates) so we do not send a tryout blast to someone who only wanted Saturday skills. Families in the portal can also opt in, separately, to that same program-news list; unsubscribing from it never stops receipts, RSVP links, or practice cancellations.
• Photos and video — we photograph and record games, practices, tryouts, and events. Consent for this is collected through the media release included in our registration waiver.

Website analytics — this website does not have accounts, but we do measure how it is used, two ways. Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us aggregate page-view counts without cookies and without identifying you. Google Analytics 4 helps us understand which pages lead families to register or get in touch; it sets cookies in your browser and sends usage data (with IP addresses anonymized) to Google, which processes it under Google's privacy policy. You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's opt-out browser add-on, and the site works exactly the same.

How We Use It

• Running the program: team placement, schedules, tournament entries, and day-of logistics.
• Communicating with families: tryout announcements, schedule changes, season updates, and program news.
• Celebrating our players: photos and video from our events may appear on this website and on our Instagram and TikTok accounts, per the media consent collected at registration.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell your information, or your child's information, to anyone. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing. Information is used for MVE program purposes only.

Children's Information

Player information is provided to us by a parent or legal guardian at registration — we do not collect information directly from children online. If you believe a child's information was submitted to us without a parent or guardian's consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-Party Services We Use

Player registration and sponsorship claims run on our family portal. Some interest and pledge forms are hosted by Tally. Card gifts go through Zeffy; logo-advertising payments go through Stripe. Our email list is managed by Kit, and site usage is measured by Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics (described above). When you use those forms, receive our emails, or browse the site, those services process information under their own privacy policies. We only use reputable providers, but we are not responsible for their practices.

Your Choices

• Data removal — you may ask us at any time to delete the information we hold about you or your child.
• Email opt-out — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can just ask us to remove you.
• Media opt-out — if you'd prefer your child not appear in our photos or videos, or want an existing post taken down, tell us and we will accommodate it.
